The Rookie Triathlon will take place in Austin in the spring. The event, created in 2004, is a super sprint that welcomes beginners and veteran athletes.
The Rookie Triathlon will start at Decker Lake with a swim comprising a 300-meter loop. Lifeguards will be onsite in kayaks to ensure safety is of utmost importance. The next event is a 11.2-mile bike ride around the lake in a protected lane. The final leg of the journey will take participants on a run on off-road paths within the park and to the finish line where the festival begins. Each competitor crossing the finish line will receive a commemorative Rookie Tri Finisher Medal.
Food, beverages, and a line-up of vendors await the triathlon participants and spectators. A beer tent will be open for guests 21 years and older. Vendors often have Banners created to use in their booths at large public gatherings. Banner printing can be ordered from local printing services.
Water monsters are available for spectators so everyone is encouraged to bring a water bottle that can be refilled as needed. Free samples will also be given out periodically.
The Austin Rookie Triathlon will be held May 2 at Walter E. Long Park beginning at 8:00 a.m. Registration is now open. Visit the event website for more information and to sign up.
