Austin is setting the course to host a rebranded winter half-marathon next month.
Formerly the 3M Half Marathon, the annual race has been renamed the Spurs Austin International Half.
Still one of the nation’s fastest half-marathon courses, the three-decades-long event will feature the same predominantly downhill course which offers runners the chance for personal best results.
The 13.1-mile race will take competitors past iconic locations and scenery including tree-lined neighborhoods and the campus of the University of Texas before finishing downtown, adjacent to the Texas State Capital.
While the race is open to all experience levels, it will include an elite category with $10,000 in prize money up for grabs. The purse will be distributed to the top five male and female finishers, with the first place duo receiving $2000 each. Finishers in all categories will receive a commemorative medal.
Along the route, runners will enjoy the upbeat sounds of spectators and multiple live bands along with enthusiastic aid station volunteers.
All race participants will receive a race shirt, bib and other swag including a bag of goodies courtesy of event sponsors. Businesses who sponsor large race events such as this often provide Promotional Products as giveaways.
The Spurs Austin International Half will be held on January 18, 2026 beginning at 7:30 am near the front of Regal Gateway Theater 9800 Stonelake Boulevard in Austin.
