Hot custom automobiles on display in Austin

Texas Heat Wave, a prestigious custom car and truck show, makes its annual stop in Austin next month. Owners and collectors who showcase their cars at events such as this often use print shops to create materials that display a vehicle’s specifications.

Almost three decades ago, two area truck clubs collaborated on the idea of creating a central event that brings together show vehicles from across the country. The inaugural show was called Custom Sounds Texas Heat Wave and was held in 1989. Since then, it has grown to attract large audiences to see featured vehicles from across the US, Canada and Mexico.

The event is geared to not only custom car enthusiasts but to anyone looking for a weekend of family entertainment. Other attractions will include motorcycle and BMX stunt riders, a monster truck display, lawn mower and mini-bike racing, a hydraulic contest and more. Plus, new this year, organizers have added a limbo competition. The event is judged to determine the lowest truck, mini truck, car and SUV and the lowest vehicle overall.

There will be live entertainment and a variety of vendor booths set up as part of the exposition. The weekend will conclude with a presentation of as many as 40 awards for the best vehicles in the show.

Texas Heat Wave will be held July 25 to 27, 2025 at the Travis County Expo Center in Austin.
