The 27th Annual Austin Film Festival and Conference is coming to Austin in the fall. The event focuses on enhancing screenwriting as well as film making at this event. The Austin Film Festival is a nonprofit organization dedicated to furthering the related crafts.
Over 180 films will be shown at the festival over an 8-day period. Various types of films will be in the competition including documentary feature, comedy vanguard, animated short, and narrative. A new category for competition, Scripted Digital Series, will be presented in platforms online.
Marquee Screenings is an ‘out-of-competition’ which allows the audiences to see the films first before Oscar season.
An assortment of Austin venues is utilized for this event including the State Theatre, the Paramount Theater, Alamo Drafthouse Village, Galaxy Highland 10 Theatre and the Hideout Theater. Panels at the conference will be held at The Driskill Hotel, Central Presbyterian Church, Intercontinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel and other downtown locations.
