Bats converge on Austin

The Bat Fest will take place in Austin this summer and will include well over a million Mexican free-tailed winged critters from under the Congress Ave. Bridge.

The annual festival gathers attendees together to watch bats emerge from under the bridge and take flight. The bats typically fly for about a half hour as they venture out for the nightly trips.

There will be arts and crafts vendors, children’s activities, food and beverage offerings, and a bat costume contest. Vendors are encouraged to work with local printing services for the creation of signage such as banner printing. Banners can be hung in their booths or across the front of the tables highlighting the business name, services and products.

Sponsorships are available. One of the main sponsors for this event is Rudy’s Country Store and BBQ.

Two stages will feature live entertainment. Some of the performers will be Ben B, Koe Wetzel, The Toadies, Lil Flip and Chamillionaire. Tickets are on sale offering VIP and general admission. VIP includes a front-row standing area, a covered area backstage, a T-shirt, misting fans, reserved parking and a private bar. VIP tickets are set at $150 for early bird purchase and $200 regular price.

The Bat Fest will take place on August 29 from 4:00 pm until midnight. The Congress Ave Bridge is located at 100 South Congress Ave.
