The 2021 Texas Book Festival is coming to Austin in a few months. Connecting readers to new and well-known authors is a key focus of the event as the region celebrates literacy and imagination.
The book festival was founded by 1995 by former First Lady Laura Bush, along with Mary Margaret Farabee and several volunteers. The goal is to honor authors in the state and promote reading.
The festival is held each fall in the downtown area, featuring a variety of activities. Panels, cooking demos, author presentations, book signings, food trucks and vendors all come out to participate in this robust gathering of book enthusiasts.
Vendors often work with local printing services to gather the supplies needed to participate in a festival or fair. Banner printing is a key initiative as the Banners create visible signage to attract interest and sales. They are typically posted in the vendors’ area.
More than 50 volunteer committee chairs lead the way in organizing and managing the festival. Over 1,000 volunteers assist with myriad tasks and projects pre-event, at the event, and post-activity.
Over $3m has been donated to public libraries in Texas through the Texas Book Festival and local organizations. Over 133,000 Books have been donated to Title 1 schools.
The 2021 Texas Book Festival will take place from October 25 to 28 in the downtown area, with some virtual activities also planned for those not able to attend.
