Botanical-based dyes have been used by people for thousands of years, and an Austin event will help to bring these techniques into the modern age.
Cassiopeia Flower Farm will be opening its gates for a special day of tours and learning about sustainable farming, and one of the topics on the agenda is plant-based dyes. Tickets for the occasion are $85 each, and a $7.55 fee will be charged if they are purchased online.
The registrants will be treated to a guided tour of the farm led by its owners, and they can ask any questions they have. After this, a representative of Soul Studio will lead the dye workshop, and the group will be making bandanas and silk scarves they can keep or give to someone special. They will use freshly harvested blooms, and everyone is reminded to wear clothing they do not mind getting dirty.
Offering adults opportunities to keep on learning can help to build a strong community. Print shops will be able to support these activities by preparing an assortment of marketing materials.
This combination of a flower farm tour and crafting class will be offered on Saturday, May 20. It will run from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm, and the venue for the afternoon is located at 9112 Thaxton Road in Austin.
