Asian flavor at Austin Film Festival

A series of new Asian films will be featured in a special cinema festival in Austin next month.

The Austin Asian American Film Festival (AAAFF) is returning for its 16th edition next month. Films written, directed, or produced by Asian creators both within and outside the US will be screened, as well as movies that feature Asian actors or Asian community stories.

As a local arts body, the AAAFF has evolved from what was a film-screening event to become a full non-profit organization. While promoting Asian and Asian American filmmakers and their stories, it also supports and encourages members seeking cinematic opportunities.

In addition to the annual festival, AAAFF presents a number of big screen shows to entertain movie enthusiasts throughout the year. Many Asian filmmakers and actors have attended the Austin red carpet over the years, bringing films from more than 25 countries. The AAAFF works to have a variety of local community groups involved in the festival to better promote the socially important messages contained in many of the films.

The Austin Asian American Film Festival (AAAFF) will take place from June 26 through June 30 2024, taking place at the AFS cinema.
