New housing development planned for Columbia

The Trailhead Townhomes development, consisting of more than 50 new townhomes, is being planned on a site that once was an industrial warehouse in West Columbia.

The site consists of three acres between the Saluda River, US 378, and Sunset Boulevard. The developer of the townhomes, Dustin Johns, said that he believes this project will benefit the city and will provide improved and efficient access to the river. Banner printing can help inform residents of potential projects like this and their advantages for a city.

There will be four parking spaces for each of the 52 townhome units. The public parking that currently exists for the West Columbia Riverwalk on the northern end will be made more accessible with the addition of a road off Sunset Boulevard that will go directly into the parking lot. Johns said that this new road will help to ensure that traffic in the area will not be an issue and should encourage more people to enjoy this public space.

There will also be retail space in the development that will be located west of the House of Raeford chicken plant. The plant will be between the new townhomes and a housing development of 224 units that will be on what was once the Capitol Square shopping center.

As this project is still going through the approval process, no timeline has been set for construction as yet.
