Mexican eatery opens in Columbia area

A new Mexican restaurant is now open in the “City Apart” just east of Columbia.

Jimador Real is on Forest Drive in Forest Acres. It is a shopping center that is very popular with a Lowes Foods supermarket as an anchor. There are many other businesses in the shopping center including a CVS pharmacy and an Eggs Up Grill restaurant. Jimador Real is part of the El Jimador family of Mexican restaurants across the central part of the state.

The restaurant is in the space that was once home to a TakoSushi restaurant that closed in October 2025. Jimador Real announced that it would move into the space just a few days after TakoSushi closed.

The restaurant features authentic Mexican cuisine that focuses on a different way to experience traditional Mexican dishes and a refined presentation. All items on the menu are made with fresh ingredients and highlight the love of the owners for their Mexican roots. Local Print shops can help promote such new eateries with Booklets, mailers, and other printed materials.

Columbia is currently expanding its many commercial options, with the Forest Acres area expecting a rise of eight percent in retail spending from 2022 to 2027. The redevelopment of the Richland Mall in the area is primed to bring new apartments and shops.

The El Jimador chain has other locations in Irmo, Lexington, and Cayce.
