College in Columbia receives significant donation

The University of South Carolina (USC) in Columbia has renamed its Department of Sport and Entertainment Management the David and Nicole Tepper Department of Sport and Entertainment Management. This is in recognition of The David and Nicole Tepper Foundation’s gift of $5 million.

There has been a longstanding partnership with the foundation and its Tepper Scholars Program. The donation will create an endowment so the scholarship program can be sustained forever and provide support for four years to high achieving students. It will combine assistance with tuition with hands-on industry experience, mentorship, and professional development. The gift will also establish the Tepper Professors of Practice that will support faculty focused on the business of professional sports and leadership and bring elite practitioner-educators into classrooms of USC.

News of such donations and their benefits for a college and its students is often made known throughout a community with flyer printing.

The department is the largest sport and entertainment management program in the United States. Its Master of Sport and Entertainment Management is ranked among the top 10 around the world and among the top 10 in the United States for sports management.

Chair of the department, Matt Brown, expressed his gratitude to the Teppers and their gift that will support scholarships for students. He said that this will ease financial burdens for many, open doors or opportunity, and enable students to pursue their dreams.
