World labyrinth day to be observed by hospice

Tucked away in a quiet spot, the labyrinth garden at the Rainey Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson will soon be taking part in the worldwide ‘Walk as One at 1’ ceremony of the Labyrinth Society.

This event, which is to be part of World Labyrinth Day, is the second one to be held at the hospice, which has an indoor labyrinth in the Sadler Conference Center. There is also a finger walk board for persons with disabilities. According to the chaplain at Rainey Hospice of the Upstate, Rev. Nancy Blakely, the maze-like features are designed to reduce stress and lead to relaxation.

This will be the seventh annual event for the Labyrinth Society. Lars Howlett, international coordinator for the organization, said that the Walk as One at 1 initiative is designed to promote peace around the world as people carry out the task in solidarity.

The goal of the organization for this year is to coordinate walks in all 50 states, as well as in 50 nations. Poster printing companies around the world may be involved in promoting this occasion, with colorful and informative Posters designed to let the public know of nearby events.

The day is scheduled to take place on May 2nd, beginning at 12:45p.m. with a brief overview of the project. The walk is then due to begin at 1:00p.m.
