An application to build a new subdivision near North Pointe Elementary School in Anderson along South Carolina State Route 81 has been filed with the Anderson County Development Standards Division.
An entity connected to T. Walter Brashier purchased the property in December for $500,000. He said there are 62 acres in the subdivision, which would be divided into 84 lots. He added that the highway, Route 81, is a popular road and a good place for a subdivision.
The tentative name for the subdivision is North Pointe, but Brashier said it is too soon to provide more details about it. It currently does not have any sewer service and it has not been approved for subdivision by any governmental authority. It could be six months before he has any further information about it.
The development standards manager for Anderson County, Alesia Hunter, said the project would be thoroughly studied.
Tommy Dunn, Chairman of the Anderson County Council, added that this plan to build another subdivision shows that the economic development efforts in the county are fruitful. He explained that when the economy is good and people are employed, they buy cars and houses and make other large capital investments.
