News on new services to be publicized to vets

Members of the staff from the Dorn Medical Center in Columbia and the Anderson Community Based Outpatient Clinic of the Veterans Affairs will soon be hosting a town hall meeting in downtown Anderson to inform local veterans about the new and expanded services on their way to the County.

According to Dwayne Rider, a Veterans Affairs spokesman based in Columbia, the goal of the meeting is to attract veterans in the area to attend and become up to date with the services that Veterans Affairs is providing at Dorn and in the local area.

Veterans will learn more about recent and pending changes in services provided by Veterans Affairs, and have the opportunity to ask questions ot report any problems they have had with benefits.

They will also get an update on the new Veterans Affairs clinic being constructed near the T.L. Hanna High School. It will offer 44,000 square feet of space and provide rehabilitation, audiology, and radiology services in addition to the smaller current clinic on Greenville Street, where primary and mental healthcare are available.

The meeting will be held at the Anderson County Public Library on September 21 at 11:00 am. Most likely, Veterans Affairs is working with a local Print company to create mailers that can be sent to veterans in the area to let them know about the meeting.
