Anderson Independent Mail has named Steve Bruss as its new newsroom editor.

Prior to this, Bruss was known in South Carolina for his work at the Greensville News as the opinion page editor. Bruss has lived in the Upstate region since 2005, when he joined the News as the associate editor of its editorial page.

Bill Fox, managing editor for the News, said that Bruss’ insight and engagement will be missed, and that he brought reason and careful consideration to even the most difficult controversies.

Meanwhile, the publisher and president of the Independent Mail, Susan Kelly-Gilbert, expressed her enthusiasm over Bruss’ move to the new position. She stated that Bruss has worked in many communities the size of Anderson, and that he understands the challenges and opportunities that face a newspaper in a community of this size.

As for Bruss himself, he stated that he is looking forward to the opportunity presented at the Independent Mail. He complimented the reporters at the newspaper, and said that he was excited to join the community and help the newspaper continue to improve on the good work it has done in the past.
