The Secure Your ID Shred Day is set to occur in Anderson next month.
The AARP South Carolina and the Better Business Bureau of the Upstate jointly created Shred Day to educate business owners and consumers about fraud protection and risks of identity theft.
On Shred Day, those who take part in the event are welcome to bring a maximum of three 13 gallon kitchen Bags full of paper for shredding. Alternatively, business or consumers can instead bring up to three full Boxes that have dimensions of 10” x 12” x 15”.
The AARP South Carolina and the Better Business Bureau Education Foundation (BBBEF) will be onsite to hand out informative printed materials to participants. These educational handouts will contain details on how Anderson locals can protect themselves from identity theft. Organizers of education events commonly use brochure printing to produce high-quality handouts for event attendees.
Attendees can also bring unneeded computers, printers, laptops, or monitors to donate to Goodwill. The organization will wipe all hard drives before selling.
Participants must arrive and remain in their vehicles throughout the duration of the event.
This free event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 17 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. The event will be held outside the Anderson Mall at the back entrance near Martin Luther King Boulevard.
