Dive rescue organization to offer class in Anderson

A course on repairing dry suits will be held in August at the Anderson City Fire Department.

Dry Suit Repair is a program where people can learn about maintaining and fixing issues with their scuba dry suits. The lessons will cover how to repair small tears, holes, and punctures in materials such as trilaminate and polyurethane. Students will receive step-by-step guidance from the instructors and will see live demonstrations. Participants must bring their own scuba dry suits, though patch materials and glue are provided.

The organizer of the class is Dive Rescue International, which is a group created by law enforcement officials in 1977. The organization aims to provide professional training to those who respond to aquatic incidents. The co-owners of the group are Pete Gannon and Blades Robinson, and the current president is Justin Fox. The organization has corporate trainers in many cities, including Kent, Fort Collins, and Twin Falls.

The suit repair lesson will be on Saturday, August 26 from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Students must be at least 18 and are required to bring a Dremel-type moto tool and Dremel #952 tapered grinding stone. People can request that the class be customized for Swiftwater Dry Suits in advance. Organizations in charge of niche programs like this may use poster printing to share their workshops with more consumers.
