Center targeted at senior health to open in Anderson

A new Partners in Primary Care center is opening in Anderson that will focus on care for seniors.

According to Dr. William Logan, who will lead the practice as vice president of medical operations, the center will be unique in the Upstate region in that it will include activity and wellness rooms that can be used for entertainment and healthcare. It will look at the overall health of seniors and include nutrition, medications, physical activity and treatment.

There will be one physician, who will not have more than 500 patients, who will come from Anderson. There will also be an administrator, a care coordinator and a medical assistant at the center. Primary care needs such as check-ups, lab tests and x-rays will be provided.

Logan said the senior population is rather large in the Upstate with as many as 12,000 patients with Medicare who are not getting the proper care. The new center will focus on listening well to its patients.

He added that seniors have different goals and priorities and physical and medical challenges than the rest of the population. Their needs tend to differ as they get older and so they become more unique.

The new center might benefit from the assistance of a local printing company to promote itself to seniors in the area by means of Flyers and Booklets outlining its plans.
