The 2020 Anderson Christmas Lights event is scheduled to proceed beginning next month.
This bright festive event originated over 20 years ago to serve as a way to raise funds for the Easter Seals of South Carolina. The event doubled as a fundraiser and an exciting chance for locals to view extensive displays of Christmas lights each holiday season.
In 2003, the holiday event was scheduled to be permanently shut down when the Easter Seals closed their Anderson Office. All the lights they used for the annual display were going to be sold. However, two co-founders of the event, Ben Phillips and Dennis Lavold, resolved to continue the yearly display under the nonprofit organization, Anderson Lights of Hope.
Most years, this Christmas lights tradition has been accompanied by other holiday activities such as wagon rides and roasting marshmallows around a fire. For its 27th year, the Anderson Christmas Lights will proceed as a drive-by event only to adhere to social distancing guidelines. When organizing local events, the hosts frequently choose poster printing to create attention-grabbing colorful advertisements to put up on bulletin boards.
Admission will be priced at $10 per person.
This festive holiday light display is set to begin on Thursday, November 26 and conclude on Friday., December 25, running from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm each day.
