Cycling and yoga enthusiasts, and those who are interested in Pilates, will be pleased with the recent announcement by the Anderson Area YMCA that it is ready to begin work on expanded areas for these activities.
The additional space will be 12,000 square feet in size and cost $2.45m. The YMCA opened in 2001 and this is the first major expansion of the business since then. It currently has an area of 93,600 square feet and boasts the only indoor swimming pool in the County.
There will be areas dedicated for functional training classes such as TRX and CrossFit in the expansion. There will also be a new studio for cycling with a component that adds a virtual ride, so cyclists will feel like they are biking in the Rocky Mountains, Puerto Rico, or downtown Miami.
According to the CEO of the Anderson Area YMCA, Joe Drennon, functional training has become an important part of becoming fit.
Wellness director of the Anderson Area YMCA, Chad Alewine, added that there is a large demand for yoga, TRX, CrossFit, and Pilates classes, and that this expansion will be able to keep up with requirements.
Drennon expects the expansion to take about nine months to complete. In the meantime, he might want to look into using Flyers printing companies to create flyers and other materials with more information about the project, and the additional renovations it will include.
