Anderson University will host an athletic event in February to help with cancer research.
The Pink Walk & Fun Run is a fundraising event where people can help support research grants for studying cancers that impact women. Those who take part in the university’s program will receive a commemorative sticker and finisher medal. There is also a limited supply of themed shirts that people can get at the event. Participants are encouraged to join the fun run’s Best Costume Contest, an activity where athletes wear their best pink outfits to the race for a chance to win event swag.
The proceeds earned at the event will benefit Play4Kay, an organization started by Anderson University’s women’s basketball team. All money raised by Play4Kay is given to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The university created the fund in 2007 and named it after NC State University’s former basketball coach. The cancer fund supports cancer research and helps programs that give people access to quality cancer healthcare.
The athletic event will be on Saturday, February 1st from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Tickets to participate in the run cost $35 per person. People interested in honoring their loved ones during the fundraiser can submit stories online alongside a photo of the person being remembered. The event will be held at the Anderson University Abney Athletic Center. Universities that host similar fundraisers can depend on banner printing to promote their causes.
