Anderson locals looking for a family-friendly way to celebrate the Halloween season can participate in an October race.
The Spooktacular 5K and one-mile Trick-or-Treat Fun Run is a non-competitive event where families can have fun while supporting the Anderson County Special Needs Foundation. The activity is held at the Anderson County Disability and Special Needs Board. Aid stations will be placed throughout the running course to give attendees water. There will be costumed characters attending the race to cheer on the participants as they complete the route.
The Anderson County Disabilities and Special Needs Board is a company established in 1982 that provides structure and support to those diagnosed with an intellectual disability. The business has a residential program where it teaches participants how to be independent. Other services offered by the company include preparing people for careers and providing community service opportunities. Facilities such as this can promote their programs to others with poster printing.
The races will be held on Saturday, October 30 and will begin at 8:00 am. Adult registration will cost $25, while children 13 and younger need to pay $15. All guests are encouraged to put on a costume for the occasion. Those who pre-register by October 15 will receive a T-shirt. Snacks will be available for all participants after the race, and people who finish the route will have their name entered into a raffle.
