Anderson to host comics event for the second year

The second annual Electric City ComiCon will be held by the Anderson County Library System next month.

The theme for this year’s ComiCon is ‘Literacy Through the Fantastic’. There will also be various panel discussions during the day. Among these will be Steampunked with Kady Cross, Alan Gratz, and Cindy McLeod; Stitches and Seams of Cosplay with Rob Sosebee, Sybil Todd, and Alan Gratz; and Fantastic Comics with Robert Venditti Chris Schweizer, Deon Brown, and Jeremy Whitley.

Featured throughout the day are vendor and artist alleys, a gaming area, a cosplay area, and an anime screening room. There will also be a Fan Art Display, where attendees can vote for their favorite artist in each age category, and the Cosplay Contest, which will begin at 3:00 p.m. Winners of this will be announced at the end of the ComiCon event.

The South Carolina Arts Commission, an Anderson County Accommodations Tax Grant, the Walmart Foundation, and the South Carolina Humanities Council are providing partial funding for the event.

The Electric City ComiCon will be held in downtown Anderson at the Main Library on Saturday August 6 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The library might benefit from the assistance of a local printing company to promote this free and family friendly event by means of Posters and Banners.
