The Civic Center Sports Complex in Anderson will host several running challenges in January.
The Snowbird Challenge is an annual athletic program where people can choose to run in several races of various lengths. This year’s challenges will include the Reindeer Relay, the Snowbird Challenge 5K, and the Snowbird Challenge Marathon. Those who complete at least two laps at the event will receive a finisher medal, and participants who finish 12 laps will get an overall award.
There will be one aid station for the event that offers many kinds of snacks to runners, such as pickles, chicken broth, candy, and pretzels. There are also drinks at the station like water, ginger ale, and coke. The Snowbird Challenge is a cupless event, so all participants must bring their own hydration vessels to the aid station. People who want to assist during the race day can volunteer to refill water jugs, restock the aid station, and serve hot beverages to runners.
The running event will be held on January 25th from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The cost to join the 5K is $60, and the price of the relay race is $45. Discounts are available to runners who are 17 and younger. People can park their cars at the baseball field on the Jim Ed Rice Parkway. Sports centers in charge of these activities can use banner printing to share the dates and prices of their events.
