The Civic Center of Anderson will host a two-day convention in July for those interested in quilting.
The Anderson Area Quilt Show is co-organized by the Electric City Quilters Guild and Prickly Fingers Quilters Guild. People can browse quilting vendors at the expo and vote on their favorite quilts. There will be 30 categories of quilts displayed at the convention. The event will also have a book nook, a second-hand shop, and live demos. Attendees can participate in a basket raffle and silent auction. This year, the expo will debut a junior showcase.
The Prickly Fingers Quilters Guild and Electric City Quilters Guild are part of the Quilters of South Carolina’s Anderson County division. Kathy Koon is the president of the Electric City Quilters, and Becky Hastings is the Prickly Fingers Quilters’ president. Members of the Electric City Quilters meet at the Northlake Clubhouse in Anderson every fourth Tuesday, while the Prickly Fingers Quilters hold their meetings at the Anderson County Library every second Wednesday.
The quilt show will be held on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20. The cost to enter the expo will be $6 per person. Companies that want to place advertisements in the convention’s program can pay $75 for a full-page ad or $50 for a half-page ad. Organizations that hold similar niche conventions to this may use brochure printing to make programs with advertising spaces.
