Anderson will be holding a themed 5K race in November starting at Anderson Mall to benefit the Operation Active Kids (OAK) Program.
The Electric City Gobbler 5K is a family activity where runners can spend their Thanksgiving morning racing against the community. Attendees are allowed to wear costumes while competing in the race. The course will be safely held on the city streets surrounding the mall and can accommodate strollers. This year, the organizers will also debut a new 1 Mile Fun Run around the mall.
The OAK Program provides scholarships to children interested in playing youth sports. The program is organized by the First Flight Alliance, a non-profit organization that began in 2010 to build a stronger community and assist people with completing their first 5K race. The group’s camp has helped hundreds of aspiring runners cross the finish line. Charitable organizations similar to this can increase awareness for their activities by using poster printing.
The race will occur on Thursday, November 25 at 8:30 am, and the fun run will be held at 8:00 am. There is no registration fee to join the 1 Mile Fun Run. Those interested in taking part in the 5K can register for $20. Prices for the 5K will increase after September 30th. Packets will be available on November 24th at the mall from noon to 6:00 pm.
