Anderson theater to host teen workshops

The Market Theatre in Anderson will hold a summer camp for teens at the Southwood Academy of the Arts this June.

The Teen Theatre Intensive is a five-day educational experience designed for those in grades 7-12 that teaches teens about different areas of theater. There are three specialties that campers can choose from in the program, such as design and tech, acting and improv, and musical theater. The theme of the summer camp is High School Musical. Five instructors will work with the camp participants, including Quincy DelColletti, Jared Fricks, and Drew Kenyon.

The Market Theatre Company is an organization that wishes to inspire and connect the community with high-quality art and educational opportunities. The company was created in 2015 and can be found inside the Anderson Arts Center. Many of the productions from the group have won awards, such as Next to Normal, Into the Woods, and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. The organization also hosts events like the 24 Hour Musical and the Arts for All Gala.

The intensive theater camp will be held from Monday, June 10th to Friday, June 14th. Each day at camp will last from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The cost to participate in the program is $174 per camper. Those who need financial assistance may apply for the Market Theatre’s scholarship. Organizations that offer teen workshops like this may use poster printing to advertise their summer activities.
