Anderson library to discuss importance of bees

The Anderson County Library System will be holding an in-person presentation in June about why bees are needed.

Why Do We Need Bees? is an educational program where teens and adults can discover why the insects are important. The discussion will be led by Dave Miller, a master beekeeper. The president of the Anderson County Beekeepers Association will also be taking part in the presentation. The event will address several bee-related topics, including how these pollinators impact the economy, their biology, and what steps ordinary people can take to help them survive.

The Anderson County Beekeepers Association is a group whose mission is to promote beekeeping throughout the county. Honey can be purchased from several of the organization’s members, and many individuals from the association will offer assistance with catching swarms of bees. The group is also involved with numerous events, including World Bee Day and the Riverside Middle School’s Agricultural and Art Showcase.

The presentation on bees will be held on Thursday, June 9 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The location of the discussion is in Multipurpose Room BC at the Anderson Main Library. People do not need to pay to register for Miller’s presentation. Those who present educational activities such as this may use poster printing for marketing their upcoming seminars to library patrons.
