The inaugural Fox Squirrel 5k at Sadlers Creek State Park is coming up later this month. The Anderson race is named after the fox squirrel, one of the varieties of squirrel that can be found in the park.
This race is laid-back and is open to all who wish to enter, regardless of experience. Dog walkers, nature lovers, joggers, and walkers are welcome in addition to the traditional runners. The path is designed to be easy enough for beginners. Anderson locals will also have a chance to learn about the fox squirrel, including what makes it unique and why it lives in this area.
Registration for this race is $25 per person, and includes a race T-shirt, giveaways, and prizes that are not dependent on placement in the race. The proceeds from this race will go to trail restoration and improvements in Sadlers Creek State Park. Attendees need not pick up packets early, and should plan to arrive approximately 30 minutes before the start of the race to get their bib, T-shirt, and other necessary items.
This race also comes with a special discounted camping rate for those interested in camping in this state park over the weekend of the Fox Squirrel race.
Events like this often use flyer printing to help them advertise, especially as there are multiple aspects to this 5K. The race is currently scheduled to start at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 23.
