Anderson gears up for a bike and run race

Anderson will host a special dual race this year – a 5K run and a bike race. Participants can sign up for one or both events, and the proceeds benefit Safe Harbor.

The 5K will be an evening race, beginning at 6:30 pm, and will be officially chip-timed. All levels of participants are welcome, including walkers, joggers, and serious runners. The race will begin at Anderson Civic Center, and registration includes timing, a t-shirt, and snacks. Registration for adults is $25. Youths are $20 for the first, and each additional youth in a group is $10.

The bike race will take place the following day, and begins at 8:00 am at Iva Civic Center. Cyclists can choose from a 25-mile, 42-mile, or 65-mile ride, which will go through Anderson. This race also accepts cyclists of all experience levels. Registration for the cycle tour includes lunch, a route map, T-shirt, and snacks. Adult registration is $35, while youths are $20 for the first and $10 for each child after that.

Those interested can sign up for both events. Dual registration is $50 for adults, and $35 for the first youth and $15 for each additional child. Proceeds from this event will go to Safe Harbor, a non-profit organization helping victims of domestic violence and their families.

Events like this often use banner printing services, as there is often a banner hung across the end of the route. This event is currently scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday, May 31 and June 1.
