Advertised as one of the largest night races on the east coast of the US, the Peoples Bank Midnight Flight will be held in Anderson this year, with three different race lengths: one mile, 5K, and 10K.
These races are timed, and are officially part of the Running Journal Grand Prix and Run & See Georgia Grand Prix. All three races are open to all individuals, regardless of age or skill level. The top three racers in each category will win cash prizes, although categories are not specified.
The course will begin on Greenville street and go downhill before turning around to come back up. Each distance will have a different turn around point, but all races will end at the YMCA. Packet pick up will also be held in the YMCA community room, beginning at noon on the day of the race and ending thirty minutes prior to the start of each race.
Due to heavy traffic and road closures, runners are advised to arrive at least an hour before their race is scheduled to start. Parking will be available in the AnMed Health Campus area. Registration is currently open for all three races – the one-mile run will begin at 8:15 pm, and is $20; the 5K will begin at 9 pm, and is $25; and the 10K will begin at 10 pm, and is also $25.
This type of event often uses printing services, as the bibs need to be prepared, and there are often printed materials as part of the race packets. This event will take place on Friday, August 23.
