The Senator John Heinz Regional History Center's Museum Conservation Center is hosting two workshops next month that will help to bring the history of the holidays to life.
The first workshop is titled ‘Home for the Holidays’ and is set to feature the reading of a letter written home by a soldier during World War II. Attendees will also learn how to go about preserving and organizing their own family correspondence digitally, and about the importance of such documents to a family's history. Cocoa will be served at the end.
Next is the Holiday Heritage workshop. Guests will learn all about preserving their keepsakes, showcasing their decor over the holiday, and how to clean and store items for next year. The workshop will finish off with a reception where hot cider will be served.
Both workshops will be led by the museum conservation services manager, Barbara Conner. To let people in Pittsburgh know about these workshops, local Print companies may be sourced for Flyers and other Promotional Products.
Home for the Holidays will take place on December 5 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, and the Holiday Heritage workshop will be held on December 8 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Admission to each is $30 for History Center members and $35 for nonmembers, which includes admission to the History Center's exhibits. Call 412-454-6000 to find out more.
