Pittsburgh venue organizes summer birthday celebration

This August, Pittsburgh will be treated to a taste of the tropics without having to leave their home area, while at the same time wishing a happy birthday to two of its resident animals.

The National Aviary has organized a special birthday celebration for its Linnaeus’s two-toed sloths, and the South American creatures will be the guests of honor. It is included with general admission tickets to the venue, and there will be special activities on offer.

The Aviary will be putting its sloths front and center so people can learn more about these animals and why they move so slowly. There will be information shared about the life, habits, and the ecosystem they inhabit. Any budding artists in the crowd can register for the Sloth Edition of its Brushes and Birds summer program, which will be led by artist Maria DeSimone Prasack. Tickets for this must be purchased separately.

Themed activities may require custom designed decor, and Print shops will be happy to help. Graphic design work and other personalized printing services are some of what they will have on offer.

The National Aviary will be hosting the pair of sloths’ birthday party on Thursday, August 21, and the painting class will be held on Saturday, August 23. Tickets for both can be reserved through the venue's website.
