Upcoming exhibit to showcase Carnegie print collection

Starting next month, the exhibit ‘Small Prints, Big Artists: Masterpieces from the Renaissance to Baroque’ will be showing at the Carnegie Museum of Art (CMOA) in Pittsburgh.

Running through September, it will feature 200 works from the CMOA's collection of 9,000 printed artifacts, some of which have spent years hidden away from public viewing. Works on display will include woodcuts, etchings, and engravings by such artists as Rembrandt, Canaletto, and Piranesi.

Curated by Linda Batis, the exhibition will help to trace the development of printmaking from its beginnings in the middle of the 15th Century right through to the 1800s. There is no doubt that this exhibit will appeal to many of those in the Pittsburgh area who work for graphic design and printing companies. Also, for those just starting out on their education in the arts, it will give them a good background in the history of printmaking.

The exhibit will be on display at the museum from May 31 to September 15. Admission to the venue is $17.95 for adults, $14.95 for seniors, and $11.95 for students. Hours of operation are Wednesday through Monday from 10:00 am each day, except on Sunday when it opens at noon.
