Jazz festival to heat up the summer evening

The 12th annual Monroeville Jazz Festival is taking place this August for just one evening. Proceeds from the event will go to support the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and the Central Blood Bank.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own folding chairs or blankets to comfortably watch the performances. The master of ceremonies for the festival is Bob Studebaker, and those performing include the River City Brass Band and local musician Carolyn Perteete. Food and beverages will be available for purchase on site, and parking is free.

Volunteers are still being sought to make sure that the festival runs smoothly. Those who are interested should contact Jeannie Summerville at 412-372-5935.

This event will no doubt attract a lot of Pittsburgh residents who want to enjoy some jazz on a hot evening. Local flyer printing companies may have been asked to provide products to help spread the word in the community.

The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank serves 11 southwestern Pennsylvania counties. In addition to food, it also provides programs and services to help people get back on their feet again.

The festival will be held at Tall Trees Amphitheater in Monroevile Community Park West on August 23 from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Admission is free, but a donation of non-perishable food or cash is encouraged. Call 412-372-4332 for more information.
