The Pittsburgh area’s Mt. Lebanon Library is on the hunt for some new garden volunteers, and a meet and greet will provide anyone who is interested with the scoop on how they can get involved.
This afternoon mixer will be an opportunity for members of the public to meet others who enjoy gardening, and newcomers to the community are especially welcome – all they need is a willing spirit and an interest in horticulture.
The current group of volunteers will be on hand provide details about what they do, and a list of the tasks that need to be done will be shared. These range from planting to watering and other maintenance chores, to working with powered and manual tools, installing pavers and other hard landscaping items, composting, mowing, and even guiding public tours. The attendees can ask questions, and decide whether or not they are a good fit for the program.
A nonprofit organization often depends upon the generosity of its volunteers, and hoisting an event like this gives the public a chance to learn more about how to get involved. Print shops can supply T-Shirts and other clothing branded with the group’s Logo Design, and these can be distributed to these helpers to wear while they are performing their appointed tasks.
The Mt. Lebanon Library garden volunteer program will be hosting this meet and greet on April 24. It is scheduled to take place at 16 Castle Shannon Boulevard.
