An event is coming up near Leechburg that will say goodbye to the warmer months.
AK Valley Park has organized its End of Summer Backyard BBQ, with live entertainment, and food by On Deck at P.H. Food. The menu includes mac and cheese; mashed sweet potatoes served with butter infused with brown sugar, honey, and orange zest; corn on the cob; BBQ chicken from the grill; and soda of the diner’s choice. Those who prefer adult beverages may bring their own, and seating is unreserved. Attendees are free to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets.
Entertainment will be provided by Brad Abbott, who began his career in 2010 when he started performing live. He has played in several regional Pennsylvania bands, and released several albums. He regularly hosts an Open Mic Night at Hunker’s Bella Terra Vineyards, where he showcases local musicians.
The venue is AK Valley Park, a multi-use facility and event center that is the former Alcoa Research Center and a local landmark. The building is an Art Deco style structure designed in 1929 by architect Henry Hornbostel.
The party is scheduled for September 9, from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm at AK Valley Park in New Kensington, a short drive from Leechburg. Brad Abbott will appear from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Admission is $15, which includes admission, entertainment, and food. When events like this are scheduled, organizers can use flyer printing to create advertising to spread the word.
