Two local organizations have teamed up to collect items for those in need this holiday season.
The Interact Club of Leechburg Area High School and the Rotary Club of Leechburg are the sponsors of the Pajama and Book Project collection, which is now underway. As the name implies, the organizations are seeking donations of pajamas and Books. They ask that pajamas be new, but can be in any sizes. They also are asking for men’s sleep pants and new children’s Books.
The donation locations in Leechburg are the Elks and Moose lodges, Tisha’s Salon and Spa Bar, the First Baptist Church, the Kiski Valley Church of God, Leechburg Floral, Nextier Bank, the Coco Coffeehouse, and Sprankle’s Neighborhood Market. There are several locations in Gilpin as well, such as Kalmar Motors, the Forks Lutheran Church, and Hunt’s Hilltop Service. Organizers of events like this could use banner printing to create identical holiday decorations for all participating locations.
Donated Books and pajamas will be given to the Mechling-Shakley Veterans Center, Life Services, Children Youth and Family Services of Armstrong County, and HAVIN. The center assists veterans, while HAVIN helps those who have suffered domestic violence. The agency has an office in Leechburg in the Primary Care Center of the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.
The collection effort will continue through December 14 in the local area. Monetary donations are also accepted and should be sent to Rotary Club of Leechburg, P.O. Box 163, Leechburg, PA 15656.
