Leechburg to mark 175th anniversary with weeklong fun
Leechburg is celebrating its 175th anniversary with a week of community events this June.
The activities begin on Sunday with a 5K run/walk. Registration is open now and costs $30 plus fees per participant. Proceeds from the race will support the rest of the anniversary celebrations. An opening ceremony at the Leechburg VFC Grounds, tours of local churches and a bocce tournament at the Marconi Club are also scheduled for Sunday.
There will be multiple daily activities throughout the week, including an art show, a brass band performance, old film screenings, an antique appraisal session and dedication ceremonies for new historical markers around town. Activities for kids will include an interactive presentation from the Leechburg Area Museum on identifying common historical items and a fishing demonstration given by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. The celebration will end on Saturday with a parade, drone show and closing ceremony.
Anniversary T-shirts and sweatshirts in several styles are available for purchase online. Community groups often use graphic design services to create shirts for special events.
