A popular local restaurant is expanding, no doubt to the delight of its loyalist patrons.
Frankie’s on 2nd is located in downtown Leechburg, and is a classic diner serving hearty comfort food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Frankie Failla, despite being retired, goes to work at the restaurant daily, relying on the knowledge of the restaurant industry he gained from his father. He learned well, because Frankie’s on 2nd turned one year old last December, and has been successful enough to merit increasing its hours and days of operation.
The restaurant began with deliberately limited hours and a stripped-down menu, but is now expanding to a full seven-days-a-week operation, and will remain open until 8:00 pm on Wednesday and Friday. This will give customers many more options for their dining choices.
Frankie’s on 2nd is housed in a building that was formerly Pappy’s restaurant, and Bonello’s before that. Failla’s restaurant has managed to make a name for itself in the Leechburg downtown, despite plenty of competition.
Specialties of the house include French onion soup, she-crab soup, wedding soup, and Cherry Jubilee waffles. On the weekends, breakfast and lunch are available from 7:00 am until 2:00 pm.
