Learn how to market your business

The Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce holds a “First Friday Small Business Round Table” on the first Friday of every month. The next session will take place in the Chamber Boardroom on February 3 from 8-9:30 pm. Admission is free.

The February 3 session will be “How to Effectively Market your Small Business” which will be held by Steve Rennekamp. He will be discussing how marketing has changed in the past five years and how to take advantage of those changes in order to gain more customers.

The biggest change in marketing is probably the use of online sources such as websites, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter to gain and interact with customers. People throughout Westmore County, including Lower Burrell, are actively using the Internet and it’s often the first place they look for information about a local business. While a traditional Direct Mail marketing campaign in which a business uses services as flyer or brochure printers to create a product to send out to customers is still the most effective type of campaign, successful campaigns now need to have an online component as well. If you send out a flyer it should contain all contact information necessary to find the company, including a website address.

An online component of any marketing campaign can include giveaways to those who “like” a Facebook page, providing printable coupons for merchandise, and can provide information on upcoming events in the community.

The rules of marketing have most definitely changed and hopefully this Small Business Round Table will help to get you up to speed.
