Fun run & walk coming up in Leechburg
A run coming up in Leechburg also supports an important cause.
The Shamrock Shuffle 5K & Fun Walk can be run in persona or virtually. GCXC Race Timing & Management will chip time the 5K run, but the Fun Walk, which covers one mile, is untimed, and ideal for families. Dogs on leashes are welcome, and costumes, especially green ones, are encouraged.
In addition to the run, amenities will include an indoor, heated area for registration and waiting; swag bags for the first 300 participants; a balloon artist; and characters from Marvel and Disney. The Bus Stop Coffee Company will be selling their brew, and sanitation stations, snacks, and refreshments will be provided.
Semper Gratus, which means “always grateful” in Latin, is presenting the event. The organization is a non-profit that supports pediatric patients with disabilities, or who are battling cancer and other diseases. To date, it has raised almost $300,000 to help various nonprofits such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and others.
The event is scheduled for March 23. Check-in and registration start at 9.00 am and both races begin at 10.00 am. The location is the West Leechburg Firemen’s Recreation Hall at 1116 Gosser Street. After the race, the 9th annual Small Town, Loud Voice party will keep things lively. Organizers of events like this will often use banner printing to create signage suitable for outdoor use that can mark the course.
