An event that is steadily gaining in popularity is set to take place near Leechburg soon.
The Kiski Area South Primary Color Run 2023 will allow families and friends to enjoy a colorful, messy, and fun day out. Run participants may run or walk, as they prefer, and during the run, spectators will douse them with colored powder, which will turn their traditional white shirts into rainbows of all colors.
The run helps support KASP (the Kiski Area South Primary) school, a K-through-4 school with 40 staff members working with 300 students. The curriculum includes traditional subjects as well as computer science, music, art, and physical education, and children go to school four days per week. The Pennsylvania Department of Education presented a Keystone Award for Academic Excellence to the school, and recognized it as a “Reward High Progress School” for the test scores achieved by the students.
The run is Saturday, April 15 at 1.00 pm, at the Elbert N. Kunkle Park at 285 Pine Run Church Road in Apollo, a short distance from Leechburg. People should plan to arrive at 12:00 noon. The event includes the run, basket raffles, concessions, dancing, and a DJ. Tickets are $35 for those who want a T-shirt, and $25 without.
Organizers of events like this can help participants enjoy the day by using banner printing to create course markers.
