Kingston embraces all things pierogi

Kingston will be celebrating its 12th Annual Pierogi Festival in mid-June.

In combination with the country's 250th anniversary, the festival will feature a parade, cook-off, and summer celebration of the Polish pasta-like dumplings.

At the festival, more than 80 vendors will be selling pierogi- and patriotic-themed merchandise such as Edwardsville Pierogi Festival 12th Anniversary Edition T-shirts, and the venue will feature games, crafts, carnival and pony rides, a petting zoo, and live entertainment. T-shirts for hometown events like this often get printed at nearby Print shops.

At 11:00 am, the Pierogi Parade will step off. With the theme “Red White and Blue,” parade units will be composed of local police, emergency and fire department, local scout troops and sports teams, school bands, car and motorcycle clubs, animal groups, historical and veterans' groups and non-profits, local politicians, and floats.

The focus will turn to the Great 11th Annual Pierogi Cookoff 2026 at 2:00 pm. Entrance fees for home/residential cooks will be $5 and free for any local churches that participate. Dishes must be either sweet or savory, pierogi or pierogi-based, and fully cooked before coming to the event. Six to twelve pierogis will be required for judging, which will be based on texture, taste, appearance, and creativity. Trophies or plaques will be awarded to winners.

The 12th Annual Pierogi Festival will take place at John Hopkins Memorial Park from noon to 10:00 pm on Friday, June 12 and 10:00 am to 10:00 pm on Saturday, June 13.
