Kingston supports local charity with 5k and expo

Kids Discovery Day will be coming to Kingston in mid-August.

This event will be a fundraiser for CASA of Wyoming Valley, a child advocacy for kids in the Wyoming and Luzerne counties dependency court system.

Festivities will begin with the CASA Race for a Purpose 5k Walk/Run & Kids Lightning Loop Fun Run beginning at the Friedman Jewish Community Center, 613 SJ Strauss Lane at 9:00 am and 9:45 am respectively. Same-day registration will be $35 for the 5k Walk/Run and free for the kids running in the Kids Lightning Loop Fun Run. The first 100 registrants for the 5k will get free event T-shirts.

Awards will go to the top three overall female and male finishers, and to the top female and male finishers in each age group in the 5k. All participants in the Kids Lightning Loop Fun Run will receive medals.

Running event organizers often use local Print shops to create a logo for their event T-shirts.

The day will continue with the Touch-a-Truck and Community Expo also at the Friedman Jewish Center. Children will get to explore government vehicles, and The Community Expo will offer local nonprofits, healthcare providers, and family-oriented organizations the opportunity to present their resources.

Free to attend, the Kids Discovery Day – Touch-a-Truck & Community Expo will take place from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Saturday, August 16.
