Kingston will be taking a walk in mid-August and doing a run toward the end of September for two children's charities.
CASA of Wyoming Valley will be presenting its Kids Discovery Day: "Pace for a Purpose" 5k Walk/Run.
Preregistration is $30 and on race day the cost will go up to $35. The first 100 participants to preregister will get free event T-Shirts.

Awards will go to the overall female and male finishers.
A Kid's Lightning Loop Fun run for children under 13 years of age will accompany the 5k. This run will be free, and all participants will get medals.
Proceeds from this event will go to the CASA of Wyoming Valley for advocacy, recruitment, and training of Court Appointed Special Advocates for children in the Luzerne and Wyoming Counties dependency court system.
The race will begin at 9:00 am and the kid's fun run at 9:45 am at The Sidney and Pauline Friedman Jewish Community Center, 613 S J Strauss Lane on Saturday, August 16th.
The Wyoming Valley Children's Association will be holding is annual "Do it For the Kids" Walk-A-Thon to raise funds for its programs beginning at 9:00 am on Saturday, September 27th at its school, 1133 Wyoming Ave. This will be a family-oriented outdoor event.
Tickets for adults will be $25 and $15 for children.
