Relaxing yoga classes in Cranberry Township

Early in the new year, the Venango Trail/Fitness Center in Cranberry Township will offer multiple sessions of a yoga class called ‘Gentle Yoga’.

Instead of the usual more rigorous yoga offered in other classes at the facility, this class will focus on Hatha yoga, which is more relaxing and a gentler pace. The discipline is suited to those with physical limitations, injuries, and chronic conditions.

In some cases, yoga has been shown to reduce various mental illness symptoms, including those of anxiety, stress, and depression, along with lessening some physical ailments such as back pain and neck pain. There are also claims that the exercises increase practitioners’ strength, flexibility, and balance.

Hatha is the version of yoga with which most Westerners are familiar. It consists of performing various breathing techniques and shaping the body into a number of different poses and postures, often named after animals and various other features of nature.

Gentle Yoga classes will take place on two occasions next month, on January 8 and 22, from 9:45 am to 10:45 am. The Venango Trail/Fitness Center is located at 2525 Rochester Road. It is recommended that students bring a mat, a blanket, and blocks if they have them. The fee to take part is $5. More information can be found below the Logo Design on this page.
