Multiple sports events and other activities will be featured in the 21st annual Cranberry CUP in Cranberry Township.
The celebration is held each year to unite the community and support local charities. In presenting the events, the organization aims to create a sense of community and provide hope to residents in difficult times. As such, “CUP” stands for “community uniting people.”
Softball, golf, and cornhole tournaments headline the schedule of events. In addition, there will be a kick-off party with dinner, live music, and fundraising raffle baskets.
Since 2000, the Cranberry CUP has provided over $2.5m to area families burdened by serious financial and health challenges. The event has grown over the years to allow for the creation of a community service scholarship and to offer other year-round support for vulnerable residents.
In addition to registration fees and raffle proceeds, monies are also raised through individual and business donations and event sponsorship. Companies that sponsor community activities such as this frequently use banner printing to draw attention to their products and services.
The Cranberry CUP will take place from Friday, July 31 to Sunday, August 2. The Golf Classic and the opening party will be held at the Cranberry Highlands Golf Course, while other events will be held in local parks. Further information is available on the organization’s website.
