Day of anime awaits in Cranberry Township

Anime fans will gather to experience imagination and hands-on activities at the upcoming Pittsburgh Anime-Fest near Cranberry Township.

The trade-show convention will be presented by OurCons, a promoter that organizes pop-culture, anime, Pokémon, and similar shows across the country.

Anime refers to animation from Japan, where the specific art originated. Generally, hand-drawn, anime includes numerous techniques such as graphic art with a focus on characterization. It can be seen across numerous genres, including film, comics, and video games. A common thread of anime is characters who portray large and emotive eyes.

Enthusiastic anime fans will find an array of merchandise at the event and can engage in gaming, cosplay, and workshops with panel speakers. Featured guests will include voice actor Peter Kelamis of Dragon Ball Z and Jennifer Cihi, the singing voice of Sailor Moon. Other industry professionals will also be in attendance to meet and mingle with fans.

Collectors will be able to visit a wide array of merchandise and art tables. Vendors who participate in anime events such as this often give away Promotional Products as part of their marketing.

Anime-Fest will be held Sunday, February 1 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh-Cranberry from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and followed by a live Sailor Moon concert at 5:30 pm. Tickets and other information is available online.
