A health-based 5k is to be held in Cranberry Township this September.
The ‘2022 Pump it up for Platelets’ run/walk happens in support of immune thrombocytopenia, known by the more common term ITP. This disease is characterized by a low platelet count in the blood, and can lead to excessive bruising, bleeding, and overall discomfort.
The event celebrates its fifth year with this staging. In addition to raising awareness, it also aims to gather support for the cause from residents. Organizers have set out with the goal of raising $30,000 through the event, which is $5,000 more than the previous year’s fundraising efforts. All proceeds from the event will go towards the Platelet Disorder Support Association, which is a local group that offers those affected by ITP an avenue to explore treatment options, and research information that may help to empower them.
The cost for registration is $20 for adults, and $10 for youth. As part of the registration swag bag, each attendee will receive an ITP support bracelet, a T-shirt for the cause, and many more items.
Banner printing can be used to give valuable information about the cause at events such as this one.
The walk will be held on Saturday, September 17. The start venue will be at the North Boundary Park. This is located at the North Boundary Road, Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania 16066. It begins at 8:00 am and ends at 1:00 pm.
